Scene of the rally at the softball venue

(BEIJING, Aug. 23) -- The staff of the hosting team for the ISF XI Women's World Championship pledged their resolution and efforts to make the event a success.

Over 200 participants, including volunteers, security and transport personnel, people involved in reception at airport and hotels, representatives of sponsors, venue owners, project contractors as well as logistics providers, expressed their readiness in a rally at the competition venue -- Fengtai Softball Field on Wednesday.

Liu Jingmin, Beijing vice mayor and Yang Shu'an, executive president of the organizing committee for the softball tournament attended the meeting. Liu asked team members to take the last-minute check on the preparatory work and deliver their best performance for a successful championship, as it helps enhance people's confidence in the success of the 2008 Olympic Games.

The International Softball Federation (ISF)'s event takes place from August 27 to September 5 with over 270 athletes from 16 teams competing at the venue, which is also the venue for the 2008 Olympic softball events.
