An ISF official (L-1) interviewed by the press on Colombia's withdrawal.
Colombia officially announced on August 28, 2006 that it had to withdraw from the current ISF XI Women's Fast Pitch World Championship due to late visas.
The team was absent from yesterday's opening ceremony and its opening game against Botswana in Pool B.
According to the event organizing committee, Colombia's quit will not affect the original schedule nor its double-page system in the final stage of competition.
According to the latest competition rules and regulations, the remaining seven teams in Pool B will be awarded a 7-0 win wherever they were supposed to meet Colombia.
The seven teams in Pool B are Australia, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Greece, Venezuela, Netherlands and Botswana. Based on the new rules Botswana already had an easy 7-0 win in its no-opponent opening game yesterday.
Colombia is a strong contingent in South America.
