Overseas media concerned about Beijing's Olympic preparations

To meet the needs of the international media to report Beijing's preparatory work for the 2008 Olympic Games, a news briefing was held at the Beijing Olympic Media Centre on August 29, 2006 to present overseas media with the latest progress made in the city's Olympic preparations. Wang Hui, Director of the Information Office of the Beijing municipal government, deputy head of the BOCOG Media and Communications Department and chief of the Media Centre of the current ISF XI Women's Fast Pitch World Championship Organizing Committee, gave a brief account of Beijing's Olympic preparations in such fields as venue construction, competition management, marketing, media service, cultural activities, transportation, security and city operation as well as effective measures adopted to guarantee the successful hosting of the Paralympic Games.

The wide-ranging information concerning the Beijing Games aroused the interest of the media, who asked their host questions about volunteer training, Olympic sponsors and partners, and guarantee of transportation and safety precautions of food during the Games time.

Attending the briefing were journalists from Japan's Jiji press, Mainichi Shimbun, The Sports Nippon News and Nikkan Sports News.
