BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Netherlands thrashed minnows Botswana 11-0 to claim their second win out of three games here on Tuesday in Women's Softball World Championship.

Netherlands capped the victory in the first inning by producingnine runs. Daisy De Peiner got four RBIs with a triple and a single in the inning.

Netherlands wrapped up the game in the fifth inning with Bouma and Noemi Boekel added two more runs to set the score at 11-0 despite of a double play by Botswan.

Netherlands coach Rob Walgien was much activated after the overwhelming win. "It's a very important win for us, because we have waited a long time in China for the win. We are happy with it," said Walgien.

"We like to play as ourselves in next match against Japan. It'sa new ball game. We both start at 0-0. We have to wait what's happening,"

"The pitcher is the best player of my team today. She did a good job."

"It's a team effort. Basically we came here to win today. We had a rough start (in the Championship) and we want to turn around to get some wins," Netherlands pitcher Kristi De Devries said.

"We'll try to win next game against Japan. Every game we come out here is to win, no matter what team it is. Though it'll be a tough game. Every game is tough."

The World Softball Championship is the first Olympic test event in Beijing with 16 teams competing in two pools, which will produce four spots (excluding China, the host) participating Beijing 2008 Olympics.

The 2008 Olympic softball tournament will be the last for at least eight years. Softball first featured as a medal sport at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, but it was removed from the Olympic events for 2012 London Olympics. Enditem
