At 19:00 Wednesday evening, Lambis V. Nikolaou, IOC Vice President of Greece, pitched off the 7th game of the day between Chinese Taipei and Venezuela. The game ended 3-2 in favour of Venezuela.

Lambis V. Nikolaou made a special trip to Beijing to observe the current ISF XI Women's Fast Pitch World Championship at the invitation of the International Softball Federation. He arrived in Beijing on August 28 and watched the games in the following two days.

Lambis V. Nikolaou is currently one of the four IOC vice presents.
